Safety and limits

LinkedIn watches for accounts that behave like software: too much, too fast, at odd hours, with the same text again and again. Linnia’s job is to make an assistant’s work look and feel like a careful person’s. Every write goes through the Governor, which applies everything on this page.

Each account acts only inside its working hours, in its own timezone. The default is Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:30.

Why it matters: a rep in New York who “sends” invitations at 3 a.m. their time stands out. Set the timezone to where the rep actually is, and the hours to when they actually work. Inside those hours, Linnia plans a few working sessions a day and leaves breaks between them.

What happens to a write outside working hours depends on the account’s off-hours policy:

Policy Effect
queue (default) Waits and goes out at the next opening. The job is scheduled with an eta.
reject Fails at once with outsideWorkingHours.
run Ignores working hours. Not recommended.

One action at a time per account. Between writes Linnia waits a random, human-like gap (typically about a minute and a quarter, anywhere from 25 seconds to 6 minutes); reads are spaced more loosely. A batch of 30 invitations therefore spreads over the day instead of going out in a burst. Ask your assistant to plan outreach to see when a batch will finish.

Every account has a budget per kind of action. Defaults depend on the LinkedIn tier and sit well below LinkedIn’s own limits:

Action Free Premium / Sales Navigator Ceiling (paid)
Invitations per day 15 25 40
Invitations per week 80 100 200
Messages per day 40 60 100
InMails per day 2 30 50
Profile views per day 60 80 (120 with Sales Navigator) 100 (150)
Search results per day 300 500 (1,500 with Sales Navigator) 1,000 (2,500)
Comments per day 30 30 100
Reactions per day 30 30 100
Posts per day 3 3 10
Endorsements per day 20 20 50
Invitation withdrawals per day 30 30 50

There’s also a cap on all writes together: 150 a day by default. Small networks (under 150 connections) get lower invitation caps until they grow.

Owners and admins can change limits on the account page (or PUT /v1/accounts/{id}/limits). Going lower is always fine. Going above the default asks for a typed acknowledgement in the dashboard, and nothing goes above the ceiling. Warm-up and health still scale the limit down.

A newly connected account starts small (for example 5 invitations a day on a paid account) and grows about 20% each day over 15 days to the defaults. During warm-up, messages to existing connections and comments help more than new invitations.

Linnia watches every response from LinkedIn and moves the account up a four-step ladder before LinkedIn would restrict it:

Level What it means What Linnia does
Green All normal. Full budgets.
Watch One warning sign: LinkedIn limited one kind of action, a throttle, an acceptance rate under 30% over 30+ invitations, or more than 300 pending invitations. Budgets at 70%. A limited category cools down for 1–3 hours.
Caution Two limit or throttle events within 24 hours, or LinkedIn asked for a security check. Writes off for about a day (reads still work).
Stop Three events within 72 hours, or LinkedIn restricted the account. Everything paused: 72 hours for repeated throttles; until a person resumes it after a restriction.

When things settle, the account steps back down on its own. After a restriction, a person must resume the account; it then only reads for 7 days and restarts warm-up at half its previous level.

Linnia also runs a fleet-wide circuit breaker: if one kind of action starts failing across many accounts at once, it pauses that action for everyone until it recovers.

Guardrail Why
Do-not-contact list. Anyone who replied that they’re not interested is added for six months. Respect, and fewer reports.
Colleague collisions. Blocks contacting someone a colleague in your workspace contacted in the last 30 days. One company, one voice.
Duplicate text. The same text twice to one person, or more than 10 near-identical messages from one account in a day, is blocked. Templated blasts are a top spam signal.
No links in connection notes or comments. Links in invitations and comments get flagged. Share them after the person accepts.
Invitation quality gate. Cold invitations to poor-fit targets are blocked (threshold minInviteQuality, default 30, 0 turns it off). Low acceptance rates hurt the account.
Stale invitation cleanup. Invitations Linnia sent that are still pending after 21 days are withdrawn within the withdrawal budget (autoWithdrawDays). A long pending list weighs against an account.

On each account page (or PATCH /v1/accounts/{id}): timezone, working hours, off-hours policy, mode, minInviteQuality, autoWithdrawDays, and limits. Everything else on this page is built in.
